2004 Lynmar Quail Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir
2004 Lynmar Quail Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir

91 points. Dark, rich, young and dramatic, with sappy young Pinot taste that’s all jammy black cherries and cola, this is a wine that needs bottle age. From Lynmar’s estate, in the southern Russian River Valley, the wine is dry and complex, and shows Pinot’s silky elegance. Drink now with decanting and through 2012.—Steve Heimoff, March 2007

90 points. "Saturated with dark cherry flavor and Indian spice, this is clean and structured enough to rise above all of its full, meaty weight. A stemmy edge of structure lifts the riper, jammier tones of its fruit, cutting the richness for charry grilled quail."—Joshua Greene, February 2007.

90 points. “Owner Lynn Fritz and winemaker Hugh Chappelle are responsible for these very attractive pinots. An exceptionally pretty and high-toned red pinot fruit nose leads to elegant, focused and detailed flavors underpinned by a real sense of minerality and vibrancy. I like the balance here and this carries its alcohol effortlessly and with absolutely no trace of warmth. Classically styled Russian River Valley pinot. Drink: 2008+”—Allen Meadows, Jan. 2007

2004 Lynmar Quail Hill Vineyard Chardonnay

Wine Enthusiast
Top 10 Chardonnays of the Year (2006)Forward aromas of roasted lemon and pineapple atop lightly toasted brioche. Satiny smooth and elegant on the palate with lively acidity and abundant, layered flavors that match the nose, enhanced by lime zest, Gravenstein apple, crystallized ginger and wet pebble minerality, this French barrel-fermented, lees-stirred, full-malolactic Chard dances a slow waltz on the palate, trailing off in the extended finish with an impression of kiwi and verbena. Displays a fine pedigree.—Steve Pitcher, Dec 06/Jan 2007

Recommended. –Highlighted among the writer's favorite Russian River Valley bottlings.—Jancis Robinson, July 15, 2006

2005 Lynmar Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

Exceptional., "We’ve previously rated this as Exceptional and it’s even better now, with wild cherry and raspberry aroma, complex note of thyme, and a sweet-ish entry."—Dan Berger, June 7, 2007

2005 Lynmar Russian River Valley Chardonnay

91 points & two puffs,Keenly focused on youthful appley fruit that combines plenty of depth with a brisk, bright appeal and a complex mix of toasted oak and crème brulée for support and range, this vital bottling is very well-balanced on the palate in a supple yet fully energetic stance. Fairly long at the finish and showing the eager fruitiness of its first aromas, the wine is destined for several years of wholly enjoyable service. –Charles Olken, February 2007

Recommended.  “Lynmar owner Lynn C. Fritz's other main business is the Fritz Institute, a nonprofit that helps provide logistical and technical support to disaster relief operations. This wine is no charity case: It's intensely flavored with lemon, lime, caramel and plenty of toast; natural acidity carries it through a long finish.”—W. Blake Gray, Feb. 23, 2007

2006 Lynmar Russian River Valley Vin Gris

Staff Favorite "Vivid, red cherry-inflected rose. Staff favorite, Hard-to-Find, definitely worth the search. July 2007

5 stars/5 "Light-medium pink. Exceptional rose: supple in texture, full bodied, and both subtle and complex in style--tasting of plum, cherry, roasted nut and pink grapefruit."Ronn Wiegand, July 2007

Recommended "Lately, I've been sampling roses from California (they're some nice ones) and have found three that perfectly fit my needs. The 2006 Lynmar Russian River Valley Vin Gris, produced from pinot noir grapes with just a little syrah and chardonnay in the mix, is pale salmon in color. This vibrant pink is crisp and refreshing; a great choice for summertime sipping." —Bob Hosmon, June 14, 2007

Recommended.  A bright rose with great acidity. Floral with notes of orange blossom, red plum, red apple and strawberry. Dry."-Tasting Panel, June 13, 2007
